In the world of motorsport, Street-Art Racing is distinguished by its relationship with art. In 2023, the Belgian team presents its fifth Art Car, called “The Power of Language”. Designed by Phil Akashi, the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 takes on a new dimension at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

The new Art Car ot Street-Art Racing is a colourful, attractive car which stands out at first glance. Beyond its aesthetic aspect, the Art Car is intended to convey a message of peace and harmony. Created as a poetic merge of languages and cultures, “The Power of Language” Art Car is a symbol of power, unity and diversity.

The design integrates colors from ethnic minority groups of China and two languages that must learn to live together, the nearly extinct pictographic glyphs called Dongba script and the Chinese language. The Dongba script belongs to the ethnic minority group Naxi, based in the Yunnan province in China, and has the particular characteristic of being the last pictographic script still used in the world.

At the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Phil Akashi was able to see the work he had imagined take to the track for the first time. “Collaborating with a brand as iconic as Aston Martin and Street-Art Racing is a fantastic opportunity to share common values and my passion for art, languages and aesthetics,” says the artist, who lives between Barcelona, Brussels and Hong Kong. “I have been following Street-Art Racing since their first Art Car designed by Steve Locatelli. Since I was a child, Aston Martin has been a mythical brand which makes me dream. It conveys a message of aesthetics, emotion, performance, passion... To see this Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 come to life in its new colours and to imagine it travelling on racetracks all over Europe is therefore very moving.”

“The Power of Language” Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 adorned by Belgian artist Phil Akashi will start its journey by competing in a number of GT Cup Open Europe events this season driven by Jayan Fazal-Karim and Julien Darras.

Collaborating with a brand as iconic as Aston Martin and Street-Art Racing is a fantastic opportunity to share common values and my passion for art, languages and aesthetics.” Phil Akashi

“A born predator. The New Vantage has the most powerful and provocative design language ever seen in a Vantage. A hunter, light in weight and is therefore light in its visual language.” Marek Reichman EVP and Chief Creative Officer, Aston Martin

“We originally created Street-Art Racing with Damien Hellebuyck based on two facets: our passion for Aston Martin and our taste for art. We had several of our Vantage GT4s decorated by artists and we decided to name the team after them: “Street” for where they might be seen, with GT4s being the closest cars in the series to those you would see in traffic, and “Art” for their livery. Street-Art Racing was born.”  Team Principal Albert Bloem, Street-Art Racing

“The Power of Language Art Caris a symbol of power, unity and diversity. It represents a fantastic tool to communicate emotion, passion and performance.” Phil Akashi
